Owner, D.M.(Riun) Lawrence, started in the Private Investigation Profession as a  surveillance and employment background operative in 1980. His primary work for the firm he started with was based on Personal Injury Insurance claims in the Province of British Columbia.

In 1982, he changed firms to head up the Process Serving and Family Law  (divorce and custody) surveillance team for that firm. The professionalism and Integrity he portrayed to the firms clients changed the structure of the firm to a thriving entity in those areas.

In 1984, a corporate group offered the purchase the firm but under the stipulation that "Riun"  be included in the deal as a managing partner.
The sale was completed and further building ensued with the addition of Labour Dispute  Management and a solid footing in Insurance claim surveillance and investigations  to soon follow.

In 1986, "Riun" sold his share in the company and set up his own firm. This was the initial birth of Golden West under British Columbia corporate structure that would soon grow to also include alarm installation, security guards and patrol and equipment  sales in addition to already solid divisions of Investigations,  Surveillance,  Process Serving  and Labour Dispute Management.

After 10 years of growth, it was decided that many of the divisions would be sold off, many of which went to employees and close associates bringing about a down sizing of the firm with a
new focus on the grass roots of the profession: Investigations - Surveillance - Process Serving  and Labour Dispute Management.

 In January, 1997, Golden West Investigative Group Ltd was born following the original business plan but on a more personal and focused basis.

In 1998, investigative, surveillance and personal security products sales  were added back into the fold which is now looked after by our sister company, GlobalPiSupply. 

Since that time, the Golden West Investigative Group Ltd has established other separate entities and companies. These are not investigation based firms but do add a viable support for many of our need. They include Cyber Gold Communications  for our computer equipment needs and CG Hosting  for hosting our web sites. Both of these companies also cater to public sales and service.
